Sewing Class Attendance Policies: 2/17/2025

Ok, here we go, here's the fine print . . .classes are a lot of fun, but there are a bunch of rules that have evolved over time . . .

  1. Please notify the teacher at least one hour before the class starts if you will miss a sewing class. Notification less than one hour will result in a lost class. Only texting is accepted to inform the teacher of an absence. Cell phone 951.201.2172. Phone messages and emails are not accepted.
  2. Technology/electronic message transmission failures are not the responsibility of the teacher. If the teacher does not acknowledge your text, text again. No show or no text received by the teacher, for any class = lost class.
  3. A class session is a five(5) week session or 10 hours for the beginning classes and a four(4) week session or 8 hours for intermediate & advanced classes.
  4. Classes are continuous, one session after another. Payment is due for the future 4-week session, on the last day of the previous session. Non-payment on last day of session risks availability of class day/time choice for follow-on session.
  5. No refunds, credits, or transfers within 48-hours before class starts. If a student needs to withdraw from a session, any class(es) remaining will be forfeited by the student. No refunds, future class credit or attendance deferrals, are possible. Missed classes cannot be held as ‘credits’ nor are they transferable to other students nor other class time slots. Teacher-notified (1-hour prior to class) missed weekly classes can be made-up, not refunded. If an absence is necessary, a makeup class is encouraged.
  6. Maximum of one (1) un-made-up absence per 4 or 5-week class session. A second absence requires attending a makeup class to avoid losing the class. Students may have a maximum of two, 4 or 5 week, sessions in a row without an un-made-up absence. Absences in a third sequential session is not allowed therefore an absence must be made up. Make-up classes, extra added classes, are a favor, and on a space available basis. Make-up classes must be attended within 14 days of absence, in another class time-slot. A space is not guaranteed. If space is not available, the class is lost.
  7. Missed make-up classes, extra added classes, and roaming classes cannot be made-up nor rescheduled, nor refunded, they are lost. Partial absences cannot be made up, if you arrive late or need to leave early.
  8. Classes may be scheduled on a school holiday, but are never scheduled on Fridays, Sundays, Valentines Day night, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Halloween night, Thanksgiving Day/weekend. Nor are classes held between December 23rd (Christmas) and January 3rd. (New Year’s eve/day)
  9. You will be dropped from the class if you miss two (2) class meetings in a row, or do not show up on the first day of a new class session, either, without informing the teacher.
  10. Teacher absences and cancellations, or student absences due to class schedule changes, never go against student attendance.
  11. Students waiting for rides at the end of class must be picked up on time. If is student is not picked up within 5 minutes of the end of class, the responsible party will be charged $1.00 per minute, after the 5 minute grace period.
  12. Students are responsible for all supplies and tools noted on supply list. All items can be purchased from the sewing shop.
  13. For first-time beginning students only, if you show up more than 15 minutes late or miss the first Intro Class, for any reason, you will not be allowed to participate in the weekly or roaming sewing classes whatsoever, and no refunds will be possible, per rule #4. Thanks for your cooperation! Carol Van Druten, text: 951.201.2172

Roaming Class Attendance Rules 02/17/2025

  • You must declare you are a Roaming Student when you register.
  • Roaming students will not be included in any class until they have specifically requested and granted/confirmed a space.
  • Students cannot just show up. Space in a requested time-slot is not guaranteed. When a time slot is requested and there IS space, your space will be reserved, then yes, that spot is guaranteed for you.
  • Due to the flexibility of the roaming class plan, if a student does not show up for their requested/confirmed time slot, they loose that class and it cannot be made up.
  • It is suggested you request your class dates and time slots as soon as you are able, but no later than 1 hour before a class is to start.
  • You many attend multiple classes in one week.
  • For Roaming Beginning students: You must attend the 5 classes in the beginning session within 7 weeks, from the date of your Intro Class. Seven week limit, even if there are holidays with the 7 weeks.
